this is about Saturday

Please note that if you are coming to Rosario Beach via I-5 and Highway 20 from Mt. Vernon, you will not see the signs for Deception Pass State Park or cross the iconic bridge. For this reason, the turn for Rosario Beach is easy to miss. Look for the first right turn after Pass Lake, from there, the signs are much easier to follow. We plan to place balloons on the signs to draw your attention.

Deception Pass State Park has recently begun to charge a daily fee for admission and parking. You do not have to pay this fee; when you arrive, find a parking spot, and then come to the shelter to collect your pass. It should be displayed on the dashboard.

Incidentally, when we chose this location, we were not aware that the area would be under construction. We wanted to share with you the natural beauty, which has been recently... uh... accessorized by cones and other construction paraphernalia. We did encourage donations to the parks in lieu of a gift, so we've decided to view it as our wishes realized a bit more quickly than anticipated. Please use your imagination to ignore it. :)

this is about pictures

We've decided not to have a professional wedding photographer, so please bring your cameras and please take lots of pictures- take pictures of us, of you, of your family, of the scenery- and share them with us! Click through this link to our Flickr group.

This is how to get there

... if you entrust yourself to Google Maps.

... if you prefer to use Bing Maps.

Please note that these are driving directions from Seattle to Rosario Beach. It is also possible to drive and cross the Sound via the Mukilteo Ferry. We strongly recommend driving, as it's been our experience that in the summer months, the ferry system often has long and unpredictable queues.

As you follow Rosario Road to enter the park, you will find parking in the circular lot or along the road.

We look forward to greeting you at 1:00 p.m.!

This is the shelter we've reserved.
This is where you will find the food and drinks.
.
A very short path leads you to the pebble beach and tidepool area.
Another path leads you to the bluff area with amazing views
of the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
And, just in case you were wondering,
there are facilities nearby.

this is about the invitations

We've had many people ask us about our invitations. Yes, we did design and construct them ourselves!

The images were taken from Mark's photographs of the Rosario Beach location; you can see the beautiful slope of trees leading down to the water if you take a little walk down to the pebble beach. We've always loved the sideways-growing tree; look for it on the bluff where we'll have the ceremony.

Incidentally, the invitations and envelopes were printed on recycled paper. We're doing whatever we can to minimize our impact, with compostable tableware and recycled linens.

this is about what to wear and bring

Please dress casually and comfortably. The area we have reserved is a grassy lawn, but there is also a rocky beach to explore and, if you choose to join us for the ceremony, we will be walking a short wooded path to the bluff. (Heels are not advised.)

There are a few picnic tables on site and we will be providing some lawn blankets for seating, but please feel free to bring camp chairs, blankets, etc. Also, we're planning to have frisbees and other activities, but feel free to bring your own favorites.

Weather data for the Pacific Northwest is notoriously unreliable, but most of the websites agree that the average daily temperature on July 30th is somewhere in the range of 75 degrees, with potential record high temperatures of 95 degrees and record low of 43.

Incidentally, we've purposefully planned the date to coincide with what is, historically, the statistically least-likely day for rain in the Northwest. That being said, this event is rain or shine!

this is where you can stay

There are hotels in and around downtown Seattle for all price ranges.

We particularly enjoy the South Lake Union area of Seattle, which has a convenient trolley to travel the mile or so to downtown proper. If you're interested in staying in this area, there are a few options, the Silver Cloud Inn is a reasonably priced hotel, or there are suites available at the Marriott Residence Inn.

If you are interested in camping at Deception Pass, there is a campsite in the state park.

this is where you can RSVP

Please R.S.V.P. via e-mail to rebeccaandmark@hotmail.com by June 15th. Please note that the day is intended to be a casual and fun day for family and friends, so we encourage you to bring your children. Please let us know how many adults and children in your R.S.V.P., so that we can plan accordingly.

Gifts are not necessary; your attendance is gift enough. We especially appreciate that you will be traveling and sharing your time with us. However, if you would like, we are both avid believers in the National Park system, and try to make good use of the parks during the summer months. We plan to spend our Honeymoon backpacking in Glacier National Park! As such, we would love for you to consider making a donation to the National Park Foundation in lieu of a gift purchase.

For those of you who prefer more traditional options, we are registered at both Crate and Barrel and REI.
